I think it's safe to say that it has been a crazy few weeks for all of us! With all the talk of Coronavirus and staying at home, it can leave a lot of us feeling overwhelmed and out of our comfort zone. Questions like... "How am I supposed to stay inside all day?", "How can I keep my kids entertained?", or "Will I have enough food?" all run through our minds. I don't have all the answers, but hopefully what I DO have is a helpful little way to get through the day. Here's a list of 5 things you can do while in quarantine.
#1 - Pick up a New Hobby
With all this time on my hands, I have been so excited to start something new! Some days I want to paint, some days I want to do a puzzle, other days I just want to binge watch Netflix (that's a hobby too, right?).
#2 - Learn a New Skill
This one is harder than it sounds... for me at least. I get so distracted and it ends up taking me forever to learn anything new! I'm not sure what kind of mood I was in today, but I actually bought a Ukelele online. It comes with a tutorial booklet and video, too! Who knows, maybe I'm a musical genius? I guess we will soon find out!
#3 - Start a Journal or Blog
Journal about what you see, hear, smell, feel, everything! Journal about what your kids are doing, about what struggles you're feeling, about what quarantine snacks you've been enjoying. Writing is an easy and creative way to pass the time!
#4 - Practice Meditation
Keyword: Practice. Meditation IS a practice! One of the most difficult things for us to do is stop and sit without distraction. Calming our minds and focusing on what's going on internally is super beneficial for us longterm. And if you can't get into it at first, keep trying! It's a bit of a challenge, but that's what makes it all the more meaningful.
#5 - Videochat Happy Hour with Friends and Family
Throughout this whole thing, I definitely miss my mom the most. I think we have FaceTime'd everyday since being in quarantine! Whoever you are missing or thinking of, give them a call!
